EUROPE BIDS TO HOST MISS ETHIOPIA-WORLD® PAGEANT

Miss Ethiopia-World 2005
Jiitu Abraham
The much acclaimed Miss Ethiopia-World ® beauty pageant has been revamped and is being taken to a higher lever by the exclusive owners and organisers.

The Ethiopian Life Foundation is pleased to announce the development as part of an overall objective of sustaining the pageant and providing opportunities for young Ethiopians where ever they live to proudly represent Ethiopia at international events, the 2006 Miss Ethiopia-World ® pageant will now be held in Europe later on in the year, cities short listed to host the pageant are:

Paris
Rome

London

The United States is also being considered. The organising committee will be visiting the cities in question to meet with Ethiopian community leaders and Ethiopian businesses to evaluate the overall suitability of each city to host the event.

Upgrading the Miss Ethiopia World® pageant to an international pageant creates the first and only international Ethiopian pageant, and it will be open to all Ethiopians regardless of where they live, and it is seen as an alternative for young Ethiopians who live in the United States and particularly Europe to participate in an international pageant for the right to represent Ethiopia at several international pageants.

The move is expected to further consolidate the position of the organisers as the premier pageant organisers of repute for young Ethiopians. It should be recalled that Miss Ethiopia-World® was the first truly national pageant ever held in Ethiopia in modern times back in 2003, where the top 3 winners all went to international pageants, Miss Ethiopia-World® created the first HIV and goodwill ambassador in Ethiopia and she was a spokesperson for the aims and objectives of the Ethiopian life foundation.

Miss Ethiopia-World® was merged with the Miss Universe-Ethiopia® pageant in 2004 and has been traditionally awarded to the first runner up at the Miss Universe-Ethiopia pageant. Organisers now feel the time is right for Miss Ethiopia-World® to once again be held as a separate contest as an opportunity for many young Ethiopians who live outside Ethiopia to participate in international contests

The Miss Ethiopia-World® 2006 pageant promises to be more than just another pageant but to showcase the best and brightest Ethiopian talent and culture, in an elaborate stage show, top selling Ethiopian singers are also expected to be in attendance and the show is expected to be broadcast on TV in the United States and Europe to an audience of over 80 million households.

London has emerged as a favourite to host the pageant, but Paris and Rome are still being considered, the key will as in most cases be sponsorship, as we would like to provide a warm and hospitable environment of all the delegates durring their week long stay in the host city.

All well meaning Ethiopian businesses and individuals are urged to contact us for further details of how they can be part of this ground breaking event.

MISS TOURISM-ETHIOPIA 2005 TRIUMPHS IN MALAYSIA

Miss Tourism- Ethiopia 2005 Dina Fekadu has triumphed over adversity by being crowned Miss Goodwill 2005 at the Miss Tourism Intercontinental contest held in Malaysia last Saturday, with the other 30 contestants for the ultimate title of Miss Tourism Intercontinental 2005

Dina Fekadu, who was the 2nd runner up and crowned "Miss Tourism-Ethiopia 2005" at the 2005 Miss Universe-Ethiopia pageant in March this year, was attending her first international pageant and proudly represented her country to the best of her ability and is a testament to her positive attitude and dogged determination that despite the setbacks she faced she was still able to win a title, Dina Fekadu fly’s back to Addis Ababa and can proudly hold her head high in the knowledge that she did a great job for Ethiopia, Dina now gets a few weeks rest and immediately stars her preparations for her debut at Miss International 2005 being held in Tokyo Japan at the 2005 World EXPO in September, Miss International is the 4th biggest beauty pageant in the world, and the Ethiopian life foundation which owns the licence for Ethiopia is very optimistic about her chances at the contests this year. More so because the pageant is being organised in conjunction with the 2005 Expo in Japan and is a wonderful chance to show Ethiopia’s culture to the world again.

Dina has shown that a positive mental attitude is also required to win international contests, not just good looks alone, and she is an example to all young Ethiopians the world over who dream of representing Ethiopia in any international event, she never forgot her duty, and that she was representing her country, and represented Ethiopia very well. Dina follows the continued success for our young Ethiopian models and beauty queens who have under the exclusive sponsorship and guidance of the Ethiopian Life Foundation and it President Mr Andy, proudly represented Ethiopia at several International Tourism events this year and in several previous years.

Keabnensh Girms is currently MISS TOURISM AFRICA 2005 winning in Greece at the 2005 Miss Tourism Planet contest last month. Fethiya Mohammed { crowned “Miss Nations 2005” at the 2005 Miss Universe-Ethiopia pageant} is currently BEST AFRICAN QUEEN from the Miss Tourism Queen International held in China also last month, And Dina Fekadu, is now MISS GOODWILL 2005

This the above results: Winning 3 titles at 3 International Tourism events in 2 months for Ethiopia is proof positive that one person can make a difference to Ethiopia’s international image and this can only be positive for Ethiopia’s International image and highlights the serious need for joint cooperation and support from the various bodies tasked with promoting Tourism in Ethiopia

Ethiopian Beauty shines in China as “BEST African Queen 2005”

© 2006 the Ethiopian Life Foundation
Fethiya Mohammed; a top 10 finalist from the 2005 Miss Universe-Ethiopia® pageant and who won “Miss Nation®” title for presenting the Best Ethiopian National costume at the 2005 Miss Universe-Ethiopia® National costume presentation show, has gone one step further by winning “BEST African Queen” at the 2005 Miss Tourism Queen International contest which concluded on Saturday 2nd July in China.

She was representing Ethiopia for the first time and competed against Tourism Queens from 72 other countries, the final show was televised live to almost 1.2 billion viewers in Asia and the run up to the grand finale featured several weeks of fashion shows, cultural shows, entertainment and visits to places of cultural interest in China, The girls all got a chance to promote their various cultures as spokespersons for their countries as well as learn about other cultures. They also got to travel very extensively during the competition.

His Excellency the Ethiopian Ambassador to China was one of the many Diplomats and dignitaries who attended the event, and he was pleasantly surprised to find that a young Ethiopian girl was proudly representing his country at the event!

Fethiya’s trip to China which was sponsored by the Ethiopia Life Foundation, and is a further continuing effort of the Ethiopian Life Foundation and the Miss Universe-Ethiopia® organisation to positively promote Ethiopia and Ethiopian culture on a global platform, and is testament to the fact that you don’t have the be one of the 3 National Queens; Miss Universe-Ethiopia®, Miss Ethiopia-World® or Miss Tourism-Ethiopia® to represent Ethiopia at an international event, as all top 10 “Princesses” from the Miss Universe-Ethiopia® pageant have wonderful opportunities to travel out and proudly represent their country, as the Miss Universe-Ethiopia® Organisation, and the Ethiopian Life Foundation strongly believes that hard work loyalty and dedication should always be rewarded.

It should be recalled that in 2004 The Ethiopian Life Foundation proudly sent representatives from Ethiopia to an unprecedented 14 International engagements as Ambassadors for Ethiopia such as: Miss Universe 2004, Miss World [Univ] 2004, Miss Tourism Planet 2004, Miss International, Miss Earth 2004, Miss Model of the world 2004, Best Model of the World 2004, Top model of the world 2004, Miss Tourism International 2004, Miss Tourism of the Globe 2004, just to mention a few,

This opened up doors and gave Ethiopia a Global platform to showcase its rich and proud culture with other nations at several grand events, the year 2005 is still young and with many more exciting adventures and opportunities available for young Ethiopian Queens, the sky is the limit.

MISS KONJO® TAKES CENTER STAGE IN CHINA

© 2006 the Ethiopian Life Foundation
It is not very often that one can say that when beauty and athleticism are combined an Ethiopian can be expected to come out on top, but such was the case recently when Helene Tefera who was a top ten finalist and Crowned Miss Konjo® 2005 at the 2005 Miss Universe Ethiopia® pageant made her debut at the 2005 Miss Bikini of the Universe contest held in Hong Kong and several other cities in China, and was crowned “Miss Queen of Beach Activities”.

The pageant which combined athleticism and beauty in the form of athletic activities such as volleyball, netball ball, obstacle courses and other beach sports with fashion shows, was triumphed by our young Ethiopian beauty Helen Tefera, much to the amazement of the judges and other delegates, her success is all the more remarkable because Ethiopia does not even have any beaches where she could have been practicing her sport, so just as Ethiopians regularly excel on the track and in marathons worldwide, a young Ethiopian has now excelled on the beach in Asia combining athleticism and beauty and quietly made waves for the Good name of Ethiopia.

Miss Bikini of the Universe® 2005 beauty contest was a first for both Helen and Ethiopian Life Foundation who sponsored her participation, and it was another milestone in the continuing achievements of the Foundation and Miss Universe-Ethiopia® Organisation, that has achieved an enviable 80% success rate this year at international competitions.

Of the five girls the Miss Universe-Ethiopia® Organisation has sent out to events in the last few months: Kabensesh Girma [now: Miss Tourism Africa® 2005] Fethiya Mohammed [ now: Best Africa Queen® 2005] Dina Fekadu [ now: Miss Goodwill® 2005 ] and now Helen Tefera [now: Miss Queen of Beach Activities® 2005] all 4 of them retuned victorious from their engagements, and done Ethiopia proud, this new found attention being given to young Ethiopian girls on the international pageant scene is a positive boost for Ethiopia’s International image and one which can and is showing another side of Ethiopia, the beautiful and rich culture that Ethiopia has.

The Miss Universe-Ethiopia Organisation has once again shown why they are the main pageant of choice and record amongst Young Ethiopia girls, as they provide the most visible opportunities for their delegates, Not just for the winners, but the top 10 finalist all have the opportunity to represent Ethiopia at an international event, unlike many of the other pageants currently being held in Ethiopia.

The Ethiopian Life Foundation and the Miss Universe-Ethiopia® Organisation, provides a wonderful platform for young Ethiopians to promote their country and dispel myths and negative stereotypes about Ethiopia, These young Ethiopian Ambassadresses are proudly doing their patriotic duties assisted with the full might and support of the Ethiopian Life Foundation for the glory of Ethiopia.
